FT120 Profile Winch

Profile winch for unmanned platforms

  • Two kilograms on the bow — At 2 kg with 100 m of 2 mm Kevlar cable, the FT120 adds profiling capability to a small unmanned vessel without consuming its payload or endurance budget.

  • Driven from a browser, or from the autopilot — Deployment and recovery run from a web control panel over the LAN, or from any two S-Bus channels — no separate topside box to find room for.

  • Open SDK with live telemetry — Drum speed, payout length and line tension stream back in real time, so the winch can be scripted into an existing autonomy stack instead of being driven by hand.

  • Sensor-agnostic profiling — SVP, CTD, multi-parameter water quality sensors, water samplers and hydrophones all deploy on the same cable.

The FT120 winch is a compact, self-designed winch manufactured by OPT for profile operations on unmanned platforms such as unmanned vessels and buoys. It can be mounted on the bow of an unmanned vessel and configured for deployment and retrieval via a web-based control panel program.

The FT120 winch features a compact and streamlined design. Beyond OPT's proprietary HydroFrog 25 USV, it can be integrated into other conventional unmanned vessels and easily connected to Ardupilot systems. Winch status data can be monitored through the unmanned vessel's control interface.
