Winch

Overview

The CTD / Hydrographic Winch is an oceanographic winch that launches and recovers CTD instruments and single-bottle or multi-bottle water samplers, with cable capacity for casts to full ocean depth.

It uses standard CTD cable of 8.03 mm or 9.53 mm diameter, either metal-armored or fiber-armored, and is available with electric or hydraulic drive in direct-pull or traction configuration. The winch is built as a frame-integrated unit, with cable capacity from 100 m to 12000 m and working load from 0.5 t to 6 t.

An independent right-angle level wind provides PLC automatic spooling, angle-sensor follow-up spooling and an emergency spooling mode. An active cable tensioning device and a heave compensation device are available as options. The winch is designed and supplied by OCEAN PHYSICS and pairs with the CTD and sound velocity sensors in the Marine Survey range.
