Winch

Overview

The Geological Winch is a deck winch for launching and recovering heavy geological sampling equipment in deep water: heavy-duty geological trawls, heavy gravity corers, large box corers, large geological grabs, deep-tow vehicles, re-entry sampling equipment and seabed drills.

It is available with electric or hydraulic drive, in direct-pull or traction configuration, and either as a split arrangement or as a single frame-integrated unit. Cable capacity, cable type and working load are configured for the vessel and the sampling program, from 100 m to 12000 m of cable and from 0.5 t to 25 t working load.

The level wind is an independent right-angle unit with PLC automatic spooling, angle-sensor follow-up spooling and an emergency spooling mode. The winch is designed and supplied by OCEAN PHYSICS for vessels carrying out deep-sea geological sampling.
